It's a great day for the Atlanta Jr Knights as forward Zac McKenna.

It's a great day for the Atlanta Jr Knights as forward Zac McKenna commits to Milwaukee School of Engineering. Zac came to Atlanta with some college offers, so it was a matter of finding the right fit.  MSOE is one of the best academic institutions with a top notch NCAA D3 hockey program. "Zac, my wife and I knew we found the right college after meeting with Coach Ostapina. He stressed the tenets of MSOE Hockey being, (1) Academics (2) Family (3) Hockey. It was a no brainer for us as a family" said Bruce, Zac's father. "We have been waiting for a program to duplicate what Coach Kevin St. Jacques has established in Atlanta with family being a priority. We found that in MSOE.  We couldn't be happier!"
Coach St. Jacques had been recruiting Zac since May 2017 when he saw him at the Boston Showcase.  "When we arrived in Atlanta in August and met Coach Kevin we knew he was the right man to develop Zac and Atlanta was the right place", said Kris, Zac’s mother.

"Zac is a big body who is great down low and on face offs" said Coach St Jacques. "When Zac arrived I asked him to be a leader. He's a big kid who's had 2 years of Junior hockey before coming to the Knights and we didn't have a lot of leadership in the locker room. He was exactly what we needed!" Coach St. Jacques continues, "You can tell a lot about a player's character by how they are raised. Through several talks during the summer and by the way Zac carries himself, I knew he came from strong family values. When I recruit, I do look for technical skill but I also look at character. My job is to develop and move players to good universities. Great schools aren't going to just take players based off of their hockey skills. Schools are also committing to these players for four years of education so character is huge!"

“Playing for the Atlanta Junior Knights was one of the best Junior experiences for me. The way Coach Kevin cares for his players and works for them, along with his coaching ability, is difficult to find. Any player wanting to play at the next level will have a great opportunity under Coach Kevin", commented Zac. "I would also like to thank my coaches, my teammates and my billet families over the years; David, Minsue and Erik; for supporting me".

Atlanta Junior Knights would like to congratulate Zac
and wish him the best at  MSOE!
